Suzani Fabric

I've seen this Suzani Fabric on several postings from one of my favorite blogs, Little Green Notebook.

P KAUFMANN SUZANI JEWEL Fabric

Check out the lamp she made with this fabric.  I can't wait to cover a lamp shade in it!  Goodwill hasn't come through with the right lamp base yet...so I'll have to keep looking!  Right now the plan is to keep the base either brown, black, or silver.  Not sure which yet, I'll have to wait until I have the fabric.  It's normally about  $25-35 a yard, which is a LOT more than I like to spend on fabric...Soooo, I was excited when I found and bought 3/4 of a yard for $12 earlier today on ebay!  A few of the sites I found this fabric on would only sell multiple yards of the fabric...which just wouldn't work for me!  Anyway, I think it will go great in our living room!  Hopefully there will be enough to make a pillow too???

(You can buy this pillow for $50 on Etsy.)

Jewelry Display

How fun is this?  I have seen several of these photo frame jewelry displays over the last few years and decided that it's about time I made myself one!  I picked up a picture frame from Goodwill, a few things from Home Depot, repurposed drawer knobs from another project, and a necklace chain from Michaels.  With the help of my husband and the wood shop teacher at school, I managed to put it all together!  It ended up a bit more expensive than I had originally hoped, but even so, it wasn't so bad!  If I can find other things to use the screen for it will bring down the cost of it, right?

Drilling holes for the necklace knobs!

Cost Breakdown
Frame- $1.98
Paint- $2.97
Sponge Paint Brush- $.50
Screen- $6.95
"OOK" Ring Hangers- $2.50
Washers (to tighten knobs)- $.48
Chain- $2.50
TOTAL= $17.88

New (to us) Side Table

I have been hunting for a new side table for what seems like f.o.r.e.v.e.r!  I gave up after awhile figuring I would bump into the right one eventually.  Well, I finally found a winner!  I ran into Goodwill to see if a dresser was still there, but found this instead!  It was $3.95, so I had to pick it up!  Clearly, with deals like this, Goodwill has become favorite of this Dutch girl in recent months.
I sanded it down some, put a few coats of spray paint primer on, and then added two coats of color.  I had leftover paint from another project, so our "new" table is now "Celery Sticks" green by Glidden.

Here's Bitsy in the "BEFORE" destressing stage...

Jon helped by adding new holes for the knob.

Here is the new hardware.  This also shows the color pretty well!

Here's the ALMOST finished product!  Not too bad!  I still need to sand down the legs a bit more...but so far, I LOVE IT!

Cost Breakdown:
Table- $3.95
Spray Paint Primer- $3.10
Paint- "Free" (Since I already had it)
Paint Brush- $4.98
Knob- $4.95
TOTAL: $16.98
